William J. (Bill) Bynum is the founding Chief Executive Officer of HOPE (Hope Enterprise Corporation, Hope Credit Union and Hope Policy Institute), a family of organizations dedicated to strengthening the financial health of people in under resourced Deep South communities.  Since 1994, HOPE’s efforts have benefitted more than three million people in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee, while shaping policies and practices that have improved conditions in opportunity deserts nationwide. 

Born in New York City, and raised in Bynum, North Carolina, he earned his B.A. in Political Science and Psychology at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, and is a recipient of the university’s Distinguished Alumnus Award.   Bynum began his professional career in North Carolina by helping to establish Self-Help, a pioneer in the development finance industry, and later built nationally recognized programs at the NC Rural Economic Development Center. 

A member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, Henry Crown Fellow, Emerson Collective Dial Fellow and Salzburg Global Fellow, Bynum serves on an array of boards including the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta – New Orleans branch, Aspen Institute, NAACP Legal & Education Defense Fund, Black Vision Fund, Deep South Today, Acumen America, and Hope Credit Union, and as an advisor to Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo and E Pluribus Unum.  Bynum previously served as a member of the Gates Foundation’s U.S. Partnership on Mobility from Poverty, and a Towsley Policymaker in Residence at the University of Michigan Gerald Ford School of Public Policy. 

Appointed by President George W. Bush, Bynum chaired the Community Development Advisory Board, and chaired the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Consumer Advisory Board during the Obama Administration, served as a member of the Biden-Harris Presidential Transition Team, and on the U.S. Treasury Department’s Advisory Committee on Racial Equity. 

Bynum has received the John W. Gardner Leadership Award, Heinz Award, McNulty Prize, the Myrlie & Medgar Evers Voices of Courage & Justice Award, and an honorary degree from Tougaloo College.

Cassandra Williams is President of Hope Credit Union, a part of HOPE (Hope Enterprise Corporation and Hope Policy Institute), a family of organizations dedicated to strengthening the financial health and wealth of people in under resourced communities across the Deep South. Since 1994, HOPE has generated billions in financing for community economic development that have benefited nearly three million people in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee, while shaping policies and practices that have improved conditions in opportunity deserts nationwide. Cassandra joined HOPE in 1999 as a commercial loan officer in the Mississippi Delta and has held numerous responsibilities throughout her career including the launch of HOPE’s retail operations in Memphis, HOPE’s largest market serving over 13,000 people daily. Most recently, as Chief Lending Officer, Cassandra provided executive leadership for teams responsible for commercial, small business, community facilities lending, and all facets of the New Markets Tax Credits program. Before joining HOPE, Cassandra was an Assistant Vice President at Union Planters Bank in Clarksdale, MS.


Cassandra has represented HOPE on several boards and committees, including the Delta Region Community Health Systems Development Program, the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Community Advisory Committee, and Clarksdale Collegiate Public Charter School. She holds a bachelor of business administration degree in finance and a master of business administration degree from Delta State University.

Ed Sivak is the President of the Hope Enterprise Corporation. As President, Sivak leads the teams that drive the organization’s policy and advocacy agenda, its communications with members, community partners, and media, investor relations, human assets, and corporate administration. Since joining HOPE in 2001, the credit union has grown from a financial institution of $1 million in assets serving 1,200 people a year to one of the largest Black and women-owned financial institutions in America with $616 million in assets serving 41,000 members. He is also the co-founder of the Hope Policy Institute. During the pandemic, the Institute’s research was used to successfully advocate for changes to the Small Business Administration Paycheck Protection Program to make it more accessible to borrowers of color and to inform the design of $12 billion in community development programs structured to meet the needs of low-income, rural and diverse communities disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

Earlier in his career, Sivak coordinated numerous community development initiatives including a collaborative to support the recovery of over 500 small businesses in post-Katrina New Orleans and a $125 million partnership to expand economic opportunity in the Mississippi Delta. He has testified numerous times before the Mississippi Legislature and provided commentary for the Federal Housing Finance Agency and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and authored multiple papers on economic mobility and financial inclusion.

He currently serves on the board of Inclusiv, the national network of Community Development Credit Unions where he chairs the Government Affairs Committee. He is a former member of the Federal Reserve Board Consumer Advisory Council where he led the Community Affairs and Housing Subcommittee. In November 2017, he was appointed to the Jackson Public School Board and the Better Together Commission as part of a successful effort to prevent a takeover of the school district by the state of Mississippi. He continues to serve on the school board as its President. Sivak holds graduate degrees in public policy and administration from Jackson State University and Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts from Marquette University.

Alan Branson is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the Hope Enterprise Corporation and Hope Community Credit Union (HOPE), overseeing all HOPE fiscal, IT, data analytics and project management activities. Prior to joining HOPE in 1994, he worked as a commercial banker at Signet Bank, serving small and medium-sized businesses; a consultant to the micro-lending program at the North Carolina Rural Center; a research associate at Harvard Business School; and a developer of extended-stay hotel properties.

Alan earned a B.A. from Oral Roberts University, an M.B.A. from the Kenan-Flagler School of Business at the University of North Carolina, and a Ph.D. from Jackson State University. He has also completed the Southeastern School of Advanced Commercial Lending and additional coursework from the Commercial Finance Association. Mr. Branson serves on the Rural Advisory Committee for LISC, the NMTC Community Advisory Board for Primary Care Development Corporation CDE, the NMTC Community Advisory Board for Mid-Cities CDE, and the Credit Committee for Appalachian Capital Corporation.

Chloe Dotson serves as Chief Program Officer at HOPE. Formerly Director of Planning and Development for the city of Jackson, and a seasoned community and economic development leader, Dotson leads the Community and Economic Development (CED) team with the primary responsibility for HOPE’s goal regarding financing community facilities. This includes education, healthcare, affordable rental housing, and other large community facilities and infrastructure projects. Under her leadership, the CED team will also take the lead on New Markets Tax Credit projects; on larger, more complex commercial and business financing that involves government funding; and on HOPE’s work to help municipalities attract and leverage federal funding.

In her previous role as the Director of Planning and Development for the city of Jackson, MS, Dotson led and managed a 150+ planning and development team to implement and update the city of Jackson’s comprehensive plan. This included development and implementation of planning, urban design strategies, transit, community strategic development plans, and other policy and regulatory framework that supports equitable growth and development in the city and region.

Kimberla is responsible for the human resources function of HOPE.  Kimberla came to HOPE from Regions Bank where she served as Vice President of Human Resources for South Mississippi.  Previous employment included work with the Jackson Marriott as Corporate Sales Manager.  Kimberla is a member of Leadership Greater Jackson’s class of 2012-2013, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Junior League of Jackson and serves on the board of directors for Jobs for Mississippi Graduates, Dress for Success Metro Jackson, and Destination Jackson.

A seasoned mortgage executive, Jon has four decades of experience holding various leadership positions including President/CEO at Molton Allen and Williams, President at BancorpSouth Mortgage, President at Compass Bank and BBVA Compass Mortgage and Managing Director, Head of Home Loans at Morgan Stanley’s Private Bank.

During his tenure at those companies, he oversaw sales, operations, risk, credit, capital markets and servicing and routinely engaged federal and state housing agencies. He is a graduate of Tulane University.

Most recently, he served as Vice President, Product at FedEx Dataworks, where he created new revenue streams and transformed internal functions through innovative digital solutions. Over his tenure, Gopal’s leadership across Industry Verticals (including Healthcare, Aerospace, Automotive, High Tech, High Value Retail), Sensor Based Logistics, FedEx Logistics and Emerging Markets have been key success factors in driving significant business growth for FedEx globally.

Danielle J. Ware is the Chief Lending Officer at HOPE, where she provides executive leadership and strategic direction to both the Commercial and Small Business Lending teams.
